Sailing and Windsurfing Courses Our classes start with the basics and are designed for the complete beginner. All classes include several hours of shore based instruction before students take to the water. Sessions cover a variety of essential sailing skills - major course topics include: Knot Tying (knots
hold the boat together) On water sessions provide step-by-step instruction and plenty of hands-on practice of basic sailing techniques. Students will not be "along for the ride"; they will be operating the boat as the "skipper". Our objective is to provide the student with the basic knowledge and skills needed to pursue the sport safely on their own after the class is over. Everyone will be sailing solo before we’re finished. Our rental program allows students to extend their skill practice at their own pace following the course. Our equipment was specifically chosen with the novice student in mind. Our boats are simple and stable yet responsive enough for students to catch on quickly. Students will not be confused by any high tech equipment. Students will be able to rig the boats before the class is over. We provide all the required safety equipment and our vest style life jackets were purchased with student comfort in mind. The student provides only a few personal items including: swimsuit, footwear, towel, sunglasses, lunch, etc. An advance mailing of a student packet will include a checklist of things to bring, textbook, map to course site and other course materials. Team Building Events We offer adventure-based team building outings customized and scheduled to meet the needs of your business and employees. Sailing activities by nature require teamwork and excellent communication skills. Our team building events provide a fun approach to meeting a group challenge and developing problem solving skills. Participants obtain the sailing skills enabling them to pursue the sport and enhance their healthy, active lifestyle. Call for details. Group Rates (6 or more) are available for both classes and rentals. We will bring our sailboats or windsurfers to your company picnic, family reunion, club or group outing.
